A resort-style pool on a Snohomish acreage
Snohomish gives you room to breathe — and this property had it in spades. The brief was simple to say and hard to build: a pool that feels like a private resort, sitting perfectly level on ground that most definitely is not.
We started with the structure. On a sloping acreage lot, the shell does the heavy lifting — so we over-engineered the steel and stepped the footings into the grade before a drop of water ever entered the picture. The result is a 40-foot pool that reads as if the whole yard was always flat.
The centerpiece is a full-width tanning shelf at the shallow end — six inches of warm water for loungers and little kids — that steps down into a deep swimming zone. A raised spa spills over a knife-edge weir into the main pool, so the sound of moving water carries across the whole patio.
Because this is Snohomish, the finish had to hold up to real weather. We used a pebble interior for grip and longevity, wrapped the coping in honed bluestone, and set the equipment pad behind a screen wall so nothing interrupts the view west toward the foothills. Come dusk, the whole thing lights up like a lantern.
