A wine-country pool in Woodinville

Woodinville summers were made for entertaining, and this property — grapevines, rolling green, evergreen edges — already had the setting. Our job was to add the water and make the whole yard feel like a destination.

We designed around gathering. A generous rectangular pool anchors the space, with a wide tanning shelf at one end for loungers and kids and a raised spa that spills over a stone weir — so there is always the sound of moving water across the patio.

The materials lean warm to match the wine-country setting: honed sandstone coping, a sun-catching pebble interior, and a cedar pergola over the lounge with café string lights strung above. It reads relaxed and timeless rather than flashy.

Because this yard gets used from the first warm week to the last, we sized the heater generously and added an automatic cover to hold temperature overnight. The result is a pool that is genuinely inviting on a cool Woodinville evening — not just on the three hottest days of the year.
